Everything We Know About Leigh Anne Pinnock’s Solo Career (So Far)
In the 261 days days since Little Mix’s hiatus (yes, we’re counting), Leigh-Anne Pinnock has been one busy lady. Just weeks after wrapping up the group’s Confetti Tour, she was back in the recording studio doing what she does best – and she’s been bringing fans along for the ride.
Since starting work on her solo projects, Leigh has launched a newsletter, Twitter account, YouTube channel and Discord server. She thanked fans for joining her on her solo journey, revealing that it can sometimes feel “very lonely”, but she loves “knowing [she has] a full-on Legion standing behind [her]”.
Leigh-Anne’s solo work began in 2021, when she announced that she’d penned a deal with TaP Music Management – the same management company that helped propel Dua Lipa to pop superstardom.
TaP co-founders Ed Millett and Ben Mawson said: “We are really thrilled to welcome Leigh-Anne to the TaP family for all her solo activities. She is an incredibly smart and talented artist with a strong vision and sense of purpose, and has numerous fantastic projects across TV, film and music already in the pipeline. We’re really looking forward to working with Leigh-Anne to help realise and achieve all her goals and more”.
The following year, Leigh-Anne shared that she’d signed to Warner Music UK, gushing that she’s “so excited for what’s to come”. Since then, she’s shared clips from her meetings with Warner’s A&R director in Jamaica and LA, where she’s also been recording with a slew of legendary award-winning writers and producers such as Hit-Boy, Danja and Darkchild.
Many of the artists Leigh has been working with are well-known in the hip-hop and R&B genres. According to one insider: “Leigh-Anne has been working out what sort of music feels best for her, and she's been making great progress. A lot of the songs have a heavy R&B vibe and others have strong hip-hop influences. It's the music she listens to the most so it makes sense to follow that path. Leigh has great names working with her so she is on to a winner.”
Leigh-Anne herself has revealed that she’s been busy recording tracks that she’s “really excited about” for a solo album with an as-yet-undecided release date. She teased that we'll be getting new music “soon” – but clarified she won’t be “rushing anything” because “it has to be perfect”.
It sounds like 2023 will be a huge year for the starlet, with her calling it “go time” in a newsletter and adding that she’s looking forward to sharing “exciting projects” and solo music. Meanwhile, she told fans on Discord to “get ready for one hell of a ride”, while her label took to Twitter to declare: “Leigh-Anne supremacy all 2023”.
We already know of a few of the projects that she'll be working on outside of music. She's continued developing her inclusive luxury fashion brand, In'A'Seashell, which was launched back in April 2019. The brand is popular with many celebrities (including Kelly Rowland, Maya Jama, Jourdan Dunn and Munroe Bergdorf), and recently expanded from swimwear into loungewear.
Leigh also set up The Black Fund with her fiancé following her BBC documentary, Leigh-Anne: Race, Pop & Power. The charity was built to fund existing charities and community groups that support the Black community.
And her charitable work ties in nicely with the production house that she launched in 2020, Pinnock Productions, which plans to embrace diversity and cultures underrepresented in the media. The production house has already contributed to the creation of the movie Boxing Day, which Leigh-Anne starred in last year.
It's possible we'll be hearing even more about Leigh soon, with a source alleging that she’s been negotiating a seven-figure deal for a memoir about her identity and career. They said: “It isn’t going to be an exposé on life in a pop band, more an insight into her feelings about who she’s become in that time, and what she stands for and believes in.”
One thing we know for sure: whatever Leigh-Anne does next, we’ll be tuning in!
