With fans getting hyped for new music from Perrie Edwards and rumours rife that she's in “advanced talks” to sign with Columbia Records, we thought we’d give you a run-down on everything you need to know about the singer’s solo career so far.

Fuelling the latest label speculation, eagle-eyed fans have drawn attention to Perrie’s Instagram posts from July last year. Pez shared that she’d had an “exciting week of meetings” before posting a clip that was shot near the Sony Music offices. In the clip, she was joined by her personal assistant, Ellie, and Modest! Management’s Sam Cox – who managed Little Mix before their hiatus and is now managing Perrie’s solo career. With Columbia Records being a frontline label of Sony Music, it seems very possible that they’d been meeting with the company's execs.

An insider claimed that Columbia is “very keen to ink a deal soon”, adding that discussions have been ongoing. Perrie is apparently “bursting with ideas for solo material” and label executives think she could be “a global star”.

This should come as no surprise to fans considering Perrie is so dedicated to her music career that she had a recording studio set up at home. And clearly the studio was worth every penny, with Maegan Cottone (the hitmaker behind Little Mix tracks like ‘Salute’, ‘Move’, ‘Only You’ and ‘Confetti’) revealing that she and Perrie spent a gruelling 9-hour recording session in there last February.

Another long-time Little Mix collaborator that Perrie has been working with is Kamille – one of the masterminds responsible for ‘Black Magic’, ‘Shout Out to My Ex’, ‘Power’, ‘Think About Us’, ‘Break Up Song’, ‘Holiday’ and ‘Confetti’. They've been joined by big-name producers such as pop and dance artist Fred Again, and multi-award-winning hitmaker Steve Mac.

Kamille has been gushing about Perrie's solo music on social media, teasing in February 2022: “I think we made a hit”.

A few months later, she took to Instagram to share a muted clip of Perrie recording in the studio with the caption: “this sounds. so. good. 😭”. On TikTok, she added: “We made something amazing”.

When asked what Perrie’s new music is going to sound like, Kamille joked with fans: “I’m not going to tell you, okay? You’re going to have to bloody wait!”. However, there's been speculation that she'll go down the pop-punk route after she said in an interview: “Olivia Rodrigo and the whole comeback of that sound [is] right up my street.”

When asked by Capital Official if we can expect an Olivia vibe from her solo music, Perrie remained coy: "Well she's incredible, so great reference," she said. "But yeah, it's just music that I love to make. I just want to make music that I love."

It seems fans may be on the right track however, as one insider dished that Perrie has been requesting song pitches in the style of Kelly Clarkson’s pop-rock banger ‘Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)’. She’s also been in the studio with indie-rock artist Amy Allen (who has written for Harry Styles, Halsey, Fletcher and PVRIS), alt-pop singer/songwriter Gracey, and the brothers behind the pop-rock band Before You Exit.

Kamille has teased that fans can expect to hear the new music “soon”, and that Perrie has an album “en route”.

Away from music, Pez has continued working on her global luxury fashion brand Disora, with two new collections dropping last year. Perrie launched Disora in October 2021 with the aim of making premium ethical and sustainable designs accessible to a wider audience.

Disora’s first collection sold out in an impressive 48 hours – and we’re sure that Perrie’s first album will be just as in-demand.
